Melanie was the one that’d sent those pictures to his wife, but it was me who’d told her to get her camera ready. I’d been angry at my ex-fiance and took it out on Merrick, wanting to expose him for the cheater I thought he was. I never dreamed it would go this far - that he would vow to destroy me. I’d take it all back if I could, but the damage is done. My mother’s life’s work is at his mercy and he’s determined to make me feel the loss that I caused him. Still, the way he looks at me I have to ask myself, did my poor choices wake the monster...or the man?
My Thoughts
Let's just say I was really in shock through this whole story, I didn't know what to really think. My mind was all over the place right along with the characters emotions up and down over and over again. I felt like I was getting readers whiplash. I don't know if this is normal for the author's characters as this was my first time reading anything by her and I really can honestly say that it won't be my last time either. I can recommend her books to everyone that I know, it wasn't full of sex it had some but not full of it. The story had a real feel to it and really was about over coming demons and learning ones self all over again, making a name and taking charge of their own life. Let me just say that journey was long and I'm happy I got to take part in it. I had a hard time getting into this story at teh start it took me a bit to really get into it, I reached about 5 chapters till the end and that's when it really hit me an I really started to get into the story and the pages started to move faster and faster. See the start of the story is slow paced and seems all over the place in every direction the characters could go they did. Once you get to know each character more you really couldn't help but fall for them. The alpha male right down to the bone and whos POV you really got to know well and of course you learned to hate/love him from his emotions like a teeter totter Merrick what a really different a super kewl name. He's mean and a jerk all the time, trying to get over his past which you don't learn o what has really happened till about 3 chapters from the end that kinda sucked. Anyways he get's his head out of his ass and knows what he wants now that really took to long to get to. Trinity this smart and outgoing woman gets her life thrown for a loop all because of on mistake she didn't want to do after she wanted to. Every choice has it's mistakes no matter what. She really blows my mind the way she seems really tough then deep down she's not, I really didn't care for her at the first part of the story thought she was a complete bitch then the story moves on and the more your in her POV the more you learn and of course then you like her. The 2 of them together was amazing and I couldn't get enough even if my heart and mind where trying to catch up with each other. This was a MUST READ!!! The slow pace was really worth it in the end. I know I could sit here and give spoilers after spoilers but I think I gave enough away. The banter and flow of the story went really great together as did all the characters not just the 2 main ones but all. By the end of the story the jump in scenes it did I really felt like more should have been their that I was missing huge pieces. I do want to read more and kinda crave more, only thing keeping me back would be the pace and getting to the point of the story took a bit to get to. Otherwise it was a romance on a slower pace that was hot and really fun to read. 3 1/2 stars I just can't give it more then that it really took me a long time to read and normally it doesn't take me almost a whole week to read one story. Wish I could give it more but the slow pace was just to slow.
